Kim Barton

Kim Barton has been practicing Aikido for fifteen years under Judith Robinson Sensei, sixth dan and holds the rank of third dan from the Aikido World Headquarters in Japan. In addition to her regular training, Kim teaches the AikidoTeens! class at her dojo, Aikido at the Center. She enjoys working with teens and thinks it's important for them to have their own 'space' in which to practice Aikido.

Kim lives in the desert of Tucson, Arizona, and she also writes historical fiction set in the Viking age. Reading and writing have always been a part of her life, and she works as a reading tutor at the public library. When she isn’t practicing Aikido, tutoring, or writing, you can find Kim dancing with local African and Afro-Brazilian groups. In addition to her love of Aikido, Vikings and Norse culture, Kim is a self-professed Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Star Wars (original trilogy only!) geek. She has an M.A. in Humanities and has always loved to learn about life and history through stories.
