Peggy Pike was born in Memphis, Tennessee. When she was only 18 months old, her mother moved the family to the Athens, Georgia, Five Points neighborhood. One Summer day, when Peggy was eight years old, a baby sitter read her palm. The title of the book, Lifelines, follow the events of her life, or the lines in the palm of her hand.
Her story begins with the occurrence of her devastating car accident, then transitions to a flashback from her youth. Here she shares the tales and antics of her older sister, Katie, her family, and friends, re-looping to the day of the accident.
Hiding, or escaping the suppressed memories of her accident leads her to writing down what she remembers from her childhood and the event, making her novel. Adopting the motto, "No Excuses", from the middle school where she teaches, Peggy Pike educates each student meeting their individual level for success.
