Writing was never one of Sophia's 'passions' neither was it one of her hobbies.

However, whiles in New York, a few years ago she decided to try blogging. She set up her website and typed her first blog and as the saying goes 'the rest is history.'

That is not all that has to be said about her story. There is a lot more.

She started to travel all over the world at a very tender age and lived in several countries, around the world with her family. She was therefore also fortunate to be educated worldwide and imbibe varying cultures.

She had such a great love for reading, that in one of her schools her teacher had to enquire from her parents, if she really read the books she borrowed from the library. This was because she would borrow at least seven books on a Monday, return them on Wednesday and then borrow more books.

Up till date, she still wonders why they were concerned about the number of books she was reading. Suffice to say she is an avid reader. Maybe that has helped greatly when she did start writing.

She not only writes but also self-published her first two books in 2018; 'My Birthday Is on Saturday' and 'Summer in Numberville.' Incidentally, she also holds the copyright for the covers of both books and also for the book covers of her subsequent publications.

This brings us to Sophia's favourite subject, Maths. Yes, she is a 'maths geek' and excelled in the subject. She did not start off as a child who liked maths but thanks to her father, who made it a point to sit with her on one occasion and address her concerns, she transformed into a 'grade A maths' student.

She always had the wish to also teach kids maths and change the mindset towards maths, since she says 'we use maths everyday without realising it, so its not so bad.'

Sophia set up a company 'Maths Made Simple' to fulfil her wish to teach kids maths. One day, she decided to type out the ideology behind the company and she ended up with the two books. She refers to them as her 'Maths Fiction Series' which she created.

Coincidentally, the character, Maria in 'My Birthday Is on Saturday' did not also like maths at the beginning of story, which is exactly how Sophia felt before her father interceded.

She is now a very content author, since she has been able to combine her love for maths with her 'new found love' for writing.

Sophia also started writing poetry in 2019 and released another self-published book, 'Simply Poetic.' She tried again... this time in a different category of literature.

All her writing so far has been spontaneous. The same applies to her self publishing. She has never attended any courses in writing and/or publishing. Her philosophy is to always try and to 'give it her best shot.' So far she says she has outdone her own expectations and she continues to add to her bookshelf.

She loves to travel and is sure she has a 'travel bug' which infected her when she was very young. Whichever city she finds herself in, she always makes it a point to visit the art museums and also the science museums. She literally spends a whole day, going through a particular museum, admiring as many exhibits as possible.

Thanks to her daughter, she says that she recently added 'Deltiologist' to her vocabulary. She does have a private postcard collection which has never stopped growing. She can never resist the opportunity to enter a souvenir shop so that she can buy, at least one postcard, to add to her collection.

Music is her escape from everything and she will never refuse a cup of tea, at any time of the day, regardless of the weather.

Last but not least, she is a devoted mother. That also helped when she wrote her 'Maths Fiction Series' since she had a 'ready audience' in her daughter. She refers to her daughter as her 'invaluable critic.'

The author is currently writing her blogs and working feverishly on some new books. We look forward to her contributions to the literary world.
