Joy E Ingram

Joy E. Ingram was born in the small town of Kingston Tennessee to Reverend Gilbert Liggett and Mamie Floyd (Tate) Liggett. Although both parents had a profound impact on Joy's life she attributes her sense of humor and strong work ethic to her fiery, God-fearing, straight-talking Georgia-bred mother. Joy has often remarked she had the fear of Miss Mamie long before she had the fear of God. Joy started her education in a two-room segregated schoolhouse known as Greenwood Elementary School. She would not be allowed to attend school with white children until she entered the fifth grade. In spite of her markedly inferior educational beginnings, Joy would go on to eventually receive her bachelors and master's degree in history from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Joy would go back to school (while teaching full time) and receive a nursing degree. In January of 2015 (after 32 years of successful teaching at both Roane State and Pellissippi State College) Joy retired as an associate professor of history. The mother of two grown children, Joy currently resides in Knoxville Tennessee with her husband Anthony and their Walker Hound Boaz. Joy's passions are acting, public speaking and writing. She is a sought after public speaker and has been featured in several national crime shows such as Snapped; Homicide Hunters; and Murder Chose Me. amazon.com/author/joyingram
