Having narrowly escaped being a child of the 50's, I have been writing since 1964 or thereabouts. Initially receiving gold stars and often illegible written words of supposed praise. This guided me through numerous 'O' Levels (including woodwork!) at Chingford High School; since home to academics such as David Beckham and Harry Kane (although what I would give to have just a smidgen of their footballing skills).

A career in Hotel Management at Trust House Forte beckoned, although this was quickly banished to the back burner (thankfully not literally). Writing returned to prominence with a move into mainstream marketing through the 80's and 90's. Producing copy to launch brands such as Midori Melon Liqueur; 'Dare to be Different', and the must have Childcare Vouchers. All interwoven with the other adult scribes that we all love; letters to the taxman, complaints to the local authority and pleads to the Bank Manager. The perfect introduction to fiction.

I have penned a short sporting memoir; 'Life in the Medium Paced Lane' (available through Jeff Bezo's Independent Bookshop)...don't worry if you think you've missed me on the honour's boards at Wimbledon and Lord's or failed to spot me collecting an award at the Sports Personality shin-dig, because I haven't achieved any of these. I have though shared the cricket field with greats such as Mark Waugh and Graham Gooch. On the football pitch with the legend that is Larry Lloyd; although enough said about that (middle photo ~ The Gambia, boy was it hot)! Plus, a frame with Jimmy White in front of a crowd of a couple of hundred. Supper with Rene of 'Rene & Renata (Rita from Enfield)' fame and a chat with HRH Charles after polo (him not me!).

I write mainly for my own enjoyment, hoping that this transfers to my readers. I have no desire to be a literary giant. Preferring those who read my books to put them down with a smile, rather than thinking about the worthless essay that beckons. Although a million sales would be handy.

...Oh, and I am a long-term supporter of the 1966 World Cup winning team; come on you Irons!
