Hani Selim

Hani Selim is an Egyptian/American author. He lived his life equally between Cairo, Egypt, and New York City, which has given him a unique perspective to mix and match the best of his two worlds while discovering the world.

In his early years, Hani fell in love with international politics, human rights, philosophy, theology, and writing. He founded a social club—The International Club—as an attempt to bridge diverse cultures and celebrate commonalities. The International Club had its own biweekly newsletter, which marked the beginning of Hani’s writings.

At first, he used his writings to express his emotions. He fell in love with the art of poetry and its simplicity. He found writing was both comforting and therapeutic. It wasn’t long until he utilized his talent to discuss broader and more serious issues.

In 1999, Hani attended the City College of New York where he further explored social science subjects and communications; he attained a Bachelor of Art in International Studies with a focus on the Middle East. He went on to continue his graduate studies at Long Island University in hopes of pursuing one of his greatest passions, joining the international political arena. In 2007, he finished his Master of Art degree in Political Science with a focus on Human Rights.

Throughout the years, Hani never stopped writing. He utilized his skill throughout a diverse professional career in communications. He worked in the international politics arena, curating and creating engaging and informative content for the United Nations and its affiliated agencies. He was a co-creator and producer of two digital brand ambassadors (Mariam and Nora) and a compelling documentary, #AWomanEvenHere, for UNFPA. He traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and North Africa region.
