Joe Janowicz

After a successful career of writing, producing, and directing Kodak TV commercials, documentaries, movies, and programs for television and sale, Joe came out of retirement and embarked on a second chapter in his life writing comic books and novels. But his first chapter set the stage.

As Production Director for Kodak Video Programs, over 100 titles were produced or acquired under Joe’s direction. Joe travelled the world for Kodak. His projects have taken him from Tahiti to Russia, China to England, and a lot more countries in between. Many of his films and programs were nominated and won awards. Joe directed Academy Award winner Gregory Peck in “Maestros in Moscow,” an acclaimed PBS documentary about an American Orchestra's tour in Russia. Joe also directed Dudley Moore for Kodak’s joint venture with the Smithsonian Institution in the film “Super Tour” for PBS and video sales.

Drawing upon his movie and TV background, Joe wrote his first comic book series, BLACK MAN WHITE MAN. A black police detective unknowingly transforms at night into a white serial killer who stalks and kills all the friends and family members of the black detective. Joe has recently collaborated with award-winning author Nathan Squiers, combining their writing, and produced a complete novel of this comic series.

Joe has previously written two novels. BANG-BANG YOU’RE DEAD, a murder mystery set in a retirement home where a mysterious killer on a rainy night murders older people and THE NAKED DEAD, a suspense horror story where a female detective and male police office have to go undercover “uncovered” in an adult nudist resort to catch a vampire.

Joe is currently writing a new comic book series, The DREAMER, about a young boy in a coma who is able to travel into the dreams of handicapped children and help them with their personal struggles and disabilities, enabling them to find the “hero within themselves.” The second issue of the comic is in production for a Spring 2020 release.
