Howard A. Berry

Howard A. Berry was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1945 and grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He was educated in the Kansas City,Kansas Public School System. He served 31 years and 8 month in the U. S. Army (Active and Reserve, Enlist and Officer) and retired as a Colonel 0-6, Medical Service Corp, Plans, Training Security and Operations Officer, National Disaster Medical System. In civilian life Howard served 11 years 1968-1979 on the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department as as Patrolman, Detective and Sergeant. Howard earned a B.S. and M.S. Degree from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Missouri in 1976 and 1977 respectively. From 1979 to 2002 He served as a Special Agent, Criminal Investigator with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office Of Inspector General-Investigations, Great Plains Region, Kansas City, Missouri (covering the states of Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, North and South, Dakota, Montana and Minnesota)and retired in 2002 as Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge (the first black to hold that position in the Great Plains Region). Howard also planned, organized, conducted and supervised Security Detail operations for the Secretary of Agriculture and other high level department officials. He is a active member in various civilian, military and community organizations. Howard's hobbies and interest include Genealogy and Fraternal Research and assisting military veterans with benefit issues.
