DeAnn Kruempel was born near De Smet, SD, the youngest of six children. She grew up on the family farm, then married and lived in Benedict, ND, Toeterville, IA and near Akron, IA. She now lives on an acreage near Logan, IA where she enjoys her orchard, chickens, bees and garden. Children and grandchildren add considerable joy to her life.
DeAnn worked in school and public libraries for almost 30 years.
Ms. Kruempel writes historical fiction and non-fiction that appeals to all ages. Her dream when writing her first book was to make a difference, especially in upholding the work ethic and the strong sense of values that were valued by our ancestors. Many of the stories in her books are based on true incidents as told to the author by family, friends and neighbors.
The author's passion is to keep the value of reading alive and strong for children and adults and to somehow make a small difference in this world.
