I earned a BS in Physics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Doctorate from the Brazilian Center for Research in Physics, Brazil. I have held visiting positions at the Institute for Mathematical Studies in the Social Sciences (Stanford University), Center for the Study of Language and Information (Stanford University), and at the Interdisciplinary Logic Group at COPPE (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). My current research is interdisciplinary, integrating the foundations of quantum mechanics, philosophy of physics, philosophy of mind, and psychology. I am particularly interested in different mathematical formalisms that can describe contextuality, both in quantum mechanics and areas outside of physics, such as in decision-making and psychology. Presently, I am a Professor at the School of Humanities and Liberal Studies, San Francisco State University, and a Corresponding Member of the Brazilian Academy of Philosophy. Probably to my neighbor's despair, my hobby is to "play" the violin.
