Maxwell P. Westerman

Maxwell Phillip Westerman, M.D., has been practicing medicine for over 65 years. During that time, he has been a physician, educator, and researcher. He first began working at Mount Sinai in 1968, as a Senior Attending Physician, and later went on to become the Chief of Hematology and Oncology for the hospital. He has taught medicine for the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, Chicago Medical School, and Rush Medical College. In 1958, Dr. Westerman invented the Westerman-Jesen Bone Marrow Biopsy Needle. He currently works in the Hematology/Oncology unit at Mount Sinai Hospital.
