Alex Russell is a designer, graphic artist, creative coder and writer. He makes pattern, print, generative art and the occasional book. His ApeiroPattern artwork features extensive use of generative systems, mixing of traditional drawing/painting media with code and other digital technology. Alex has nearly 30 of freelance experience. Based in Manchester (UK) since 2009, his studio has also operated from Amsterdam (NL) and Brussels (BE).
Alex lectured at Manchester Metropolitan University from 2007 to 2018 as Pathway Leader for MA Design Fashion and Textiles routes, Programme Leader for BA Textiles for Fashion and Senior Lecturer for BA Textiles in Practice. He was Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University from 1994 to 2001 for BA Textile Design. He has given presentations at a wide range of universities, colleges, galleries and other institutions.
Alex also does Halfdropped, drawing cartoons that are mainly funny ha-ha and sometimes funny peculiar.
