Jay Warren is the pseudonym for Maureen Barkworth. Born in Deal, Kent in 1960, the idea for her first novel Reset: New Dawn Challenge came about following the death of her father, who was desperately ‘ready for his box’ and made her think about the insanity of allowing human beings to struggle on with their existence; so the seed for an element of the book was planted.
Having dabbled at writing short stories as a child; work related reports; legal documents and latterly speech editing, her new literary venture she has found absorbing and mentally energising. A keen adventurer: having swam with dolphins; lived on a yacht in the Med’; zip lined over tropical forests; white-water rafted and being a lover of anything scary and fast - motorbikes; unpredictable equines and automated horse power - she presently conjures new horizons and walks new trails in her locality.
As a qualified Reflexologist, Swedish masseuse and aerobics instructor, she has always been interested in what actually powers the human mind, and form, beyond the physical entity. Presently, she lives in a very pleasant village in Spain, cooled by mountain breezes, also from which healing thermal waters flow. Such raw, natural energy sources have long been thought to inspire creativity - which at this later stage in her life - has been awoken. Regularly being bombarded with new ideas for future books, she hopes others will enjoy her slightly off the wall novels.
