Lisa Greenleaf

Lisa Greenleaf grew up in the small coastal town of Massachusetts and on the shores of New Hampshire where she was inspired by the many sights, sounds and the love of the ocean and White Mountains. From a very early age she discovered her passion for writing, drawing, painting and creating, which helped her develop and harness her many gifts, talents and insights.

Her career as an author, illustrator, graphic designer, and artist has allowed her the freedom of expressing her feelings through a variety of mediums. Her versatility and success in her field has built her confidence throughout the years. She has overcome her childhood struggles with writing researching and author the biography in her first full color children’s book John Greenleaf Whittier’s The Barefoot Boy. The inspiration for this book was the result of learning from an early age that she is a descendant of John Greenleaf Whittier. She was so proud and inspired by Mr. Whittier’s countless achievements and accomplishments as a New England Quaker, poet, abolitionist, mentor to Louisa May Alcott and Mark Twain, and a contemporary of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and the Fireside Poets.

Lisa has illustrated, adapted, written, designed, and helped publish over 30 books. Some of her award-winning books include:

- John Greenleaf Whittier’s The Barefoot Boy (Adapted and wrote the biography.)

- Feathers & Trumpets: A Story of Hildegard of Bingen (Book designed and illustrated.)

- When Rivers Burned: The Earth Day Story (Book designed and illustrated.)

- Women of the Granite State: 25 New Hampshire Women You Should Know, Women of the Bay State: 25 Massachusetts Women You Should Know, (part of the America’s Notable Women’s Series) -book designed and illustrated.

-To My Countrywoman: The Life of Sarah Josepha Hale. (Book designed and illustrated.)

She has also been featured in newspapers, TV, radio, art shows and book events. Lisa is an accomplished motivational speaker and has made many presentations at events and programs, sharing her stories, anecdotes, inspirational messages, music and tools that she incorporates throughout her work and daily life.
