Gary W. Parker

Gary W. Parker has devoted his life to two related fields, music and mathematics. As a boy he was a soprano soloist with the Texas Boys Choir. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Austin College where he played the lead role in the all college musical his junior year and sang four years in the A Capella Choir. He has a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. While studying for his Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (F.S.A.) he won the international barber shop quartet contest as bass of the Dealer's Choice quartet, a rare first time winner. Throughout his actuarial career he sang in barber shop quartets and choruses, most notably the celebrated Vocal Majority Chorus in Dallas, TX. He retired in 2009 from AIG American General Life Insurance Companies as Executive Vice President, Chief Product Officer. His inspirational writings reflect his artistic and analytic aptitudes.
