Maximo Gurmendez

Maximo Gurmendez is an accomplished data scientist, engineer, entrepreneur, and leader in the AI industry. Originating from Uruguay, he is the founder of Montevideo Labs, a cutting-edge AI services company acquired by Blend in 2023. Currently serving as the SVP of Engineering at Blend, Maximo leads a team of 300+ AI professionals across Latin America, India and the United States, driving innovation and delivering impactful solutions on a global scale.

He holds an engineering degree from Universidad de la República (UDELAR) and a master’s degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Northeastern University, where he studied as a Fulbright Scholar. In addition to his industry roles, Maximo serves as a professor of Computer Science at the University of Montevideo and directs its Data Science for Business program.
