Gill Sayers

Hello, let me introduce myself. I write under the name of Gill Sayers, which is my maiden name. My married name is Gill Baulcombe and I have been happily married to Bill for 58 years this year.

I was pretty much a loner as a child, preferring to climb trees in our orchard, or search for fairies in the flower beds. I was encouraged to read as much as I could, the books I remember most are Heidi and Black Beauty. I found myself crying while reading these, actually feeling the pain they went through. I have since realised I am what is known as an Empath.

I have always loved writing, and inherited the ability to write poetry from my Mother. This has led me to many forms of writing, some funny, some about life in general. My poetry takes the same form, with the addition of spiritual poetry which is channelled to me by my guides. As well as this, I am a hands on/distant healer, medium and card reader. I have qualifications in Angel Healing Therapy.

As I like to keep busy, I also enjoy crafting. Decorating fairy doors, creating wall hangings, etc.

So, that's what I do, but there is another side of me. One that finds life can be extremely funny. I love people and enjoy being with others who understand what makes me tick. I can get the giggles over the silliest things, and I am ashamed to say that I do make myself laugh as well as others. Unfortunately, I have a barrier missing in my brain and which means I think a thing and it comes straight out of my mouth. This can be quite a handicap, but luckily the thoughts are generally funny. It is not helped by the fact that when I am really laughing, you know that laugh where you have to bend over double because of the inability to cope with it, I look like I am crying.(See 2nd photo) I have written a poem called 'When you are a Giggler.' This is to be found in my book 'Thoughts in Rhyme.'

I do have to avoid several things because of my empathy, and I often find myself in tears if I see cruelty or unkindness of any kind.

I have self published three books under the name of Gill Sayers, Two by Two - A Lark on an Ark. Thoughts in Rhyme. Poems from Spirit. I am now working on a book that shares all the funny things that have happened in our lives together. (See third photo) For some reason I just have to try on odd looking hats!

Here is an example of what my next book is about:

Copy Dog

While visiting a well known Pet Store, I was waiting for Bill to go through the till with our purchases and I had little Ted, our Chihuahua, in my arms. A woman came up and said, “Oh, our dog is a carbon copy of yours!” She called her daughter, who eventually came strolling across, and the woman said, “Look, this dog is exactly like yours. And it is wearing a harness.” (Not sure what the harness had to do with anything though) Yes,” replied daughter, “exactly the same, could be a twin, except mine has a longer body, think it has dachshund in it, and the nose on mine is longer,” She then added “And the ears flop over.” As they walked away, I realised I was standing there with my mouth wide open."

Bill and I also enjoy gardening, and have turned out back garden into a sort of Zen garden. We have two rescue dogs, Little Ted, a Chihuahua, and Ruby, a Miniature Schnauzer.
