Katie O'Malley was born in Moscow, Russia and has spent the majority of her life living overseas, traveling to many countries in Europe and Asia as she grew up. She believes that these experience gave her a global perspective that other young people may not have gained yet in their lives, and hopes to bring that perspective into everything that she writes. Aside from poems, she enjoys writing short stories, plays, and memoirs. Katie has had multiple pieces of writing published in the past, co-authored a winning play for the Kennedy Center's VSA Playwright Discovery Competition, and was awarded a Gold Key for her short story by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Katie is currently studying Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Florida, in hopes of working with metals or polymers in the energy industry, as her love of science and STEM fields parallels her love of words.
