Angela Abbott

Angela is a veteran and former engineer who turned to poetry as an aid in coping with a prolongued period of depression. She enjoys writing, reading, and time well spent with her family. She is now trying to proceed through life along a path of recovery and grace. Often times failing, but continuing to move onward.

Her works include emotionally powerful pieces such as Hurricane (2017):

Erratic winds sweep in as the front door opens.

These are not steady kite-flying winds.

Tempests.

Gales.

They blow the family off-course.

Everyone runs for cover, seeking a place of refuge.

Calm.

Will it last?

An eye peaks around a door.

The rain has begun - not safe yet.

Go back to hiding for the tempests will surely emerge again.

Each day brings fresh storms,

Storms that come and go at random.

The house quakes.

Its walls creak.

The family splinters again.
