Deidra Young

Dr Deidra Young worked as an Educational Research and Chemistry Lecturer (and Chemist). She developed the first use of Multilevel Modelling in Australia, in 1988. Her published works include research on the role of socioeconomic status in determining the significance of gender and rural/urban differences in Science Achievement. Having won international awards for her research in 1992 (International Education Association), Deidra continued to provide support for large data base research on ADHD (Curtin University), Schizophrenia (University of Western Australia), Mental Health (Health Department of Western Australia) and Rett Syndrome (Telethon Kids Institute). Her statistical analysis skills were in demand throughout Australia and many researchers continue to consult with her for advice.

Deidra Young has also published Colouring Books which are useful for de-stressing and calming the mind. The therapeutic value of colouring for both children and adults is well established by mental health professionals.
