Jill Franks

Jill Franks grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts and was a book nerd from an early age. However, she also loved flashier media, such as theatre and film, and especially humor. She is Professor of Film Studies and English Literature and has published seven books on subjects ranging from film comedians to D.H. Lawrence. Her monographs on British and Irish women's movements and modernists' experiments on islands round out a broad spectrum of interests. Being fascinated with her home town's history, she became a tour guide at the Emily Dickinson Museum, where she enjoys interacting with visitors from around the world.
