Sonya Lyons

Sonya Lyons is a true New Yorker, born and raised in The

Bronx. As a teenage mom she learned how to survive in the tough city using what she had: her wit and good looks. It is her instinct to survive that has helped her to keep it all together through lean economic times and during her lifelong quest to find "the right man". Through lack and gain - joy and pain. Author Sonya Lyons has fought to maintain her walk with The Lord but not always succeeding.

In March of 1993 she was introduced to the Holy Spirit shortly after taking the Right Hand Of Fellowship at Bethel Gospel Assembly (Harlem NYC) under the Pastorship of the Late Bishop Ezra N. Williams. It was during her very first all night prayer; while tarrying for the Holy Ghost, surrounded by the praying church Mothers that she suddenly felt His presence. So frightened by the experience, she stopped tarrying altogether. A decision that would alter the direction of her life for many years to come. Sonya lacked the understanding that the whole point of tarrying and waiting was to invite Him deeper into her life.

After the birth of her son, Sonya left The Big City and

headed for Atlanta Georgia, where she now resides with her family. Through all of her trials, tribulations and attempts to satisfy a deep inner void with the right relationship , she finally realized that the only person who can fill that void in her life was God. And so it was not until she gave herself to God's will that she found peace. In addition she also discovered her great affinity toward literature.

As we live and navigate our way through this thing called life, we are filled with wonderful memories, lessons that we have learned and friends that we have made along the way but, in many cases we have also been left with many hurts and scars. Author Sonya Lyons in choosing to give her all to Christ also chose to overcome those hurts.

In her book "Why Am I Not Married? Independence, A Blessing or a Curse?" Author Sonya Lyons shares her struggles and victories in her pilgrims journey toward the Cross. She takes an honest look at why we as women will abandon our "good sense" just to have a man in our lives! In other words "We know better! So why don't we do better!”. While on the one hand, life is about learning from our successes and mistakes but, on the other hand if we choose to truly love God making Him first and then learn to really love and appreciate our own worth...well maybe then we won't have quite so many mistakes to learn from!

In the process of writing her book, Author Sonya Lyons realized that writing out her experiences (journaling) was very therapeutic. Journaling helps us to see in black and white just what kind of person we were and who we have become. The love of Christ has helped those scars to disappear. So - Come! See a man who knows all that I have done! John 4:29
