Nolan Miller

I was born April 2, 1943 on Plum Bayou, Arkansas, raised in Detroit Michigan. A veteran of the US Air Force. I have been married since 1971, I am a father of three, a grandfather of two, and a great grandfather of one.

I have been writing poetry since 1959, my hope was to get a contract as a lyric writer with Motown. It did not work out so I joined the Air Force.

I had my first conversation with my father's mother when I was 28 years old. We discovered very many similarities, including enjoying Paul Lawrence Dunbar as our favorite poet.

I had the pleasure of presenting my mother with a copy of my first book of poetry before she died.

I also was able to get a manuscript written by my grandmother on a typewriter, turned into a published book. Unfortunately it was after her death.

I retired in 2010 and now I spend most of my time reading and writing poetry. I have created several small books of poetry, my reason for doing this is a smaller book will be less expensive and perhaps more likely to be bought and shared.
