Mr. Williams has been involved in the IT security field since 1994 in a combination of commercial and military positions. He is a co-author of the book “Enterprise Cybersecurity: How to Build a Successful Cyberdefense Program Against Advanced Threats,” which is used to teach cybersecurity management at over a dozen universities worldwide. He also holds a patent for e-commerce technology. He has been with Leidos (formerly SAIC) since 2003 focusing on enterprise cybersecurity, defense against advanced threats, and regulatory compliance. He has advised commercial clients in the Financial, Industrial, Energy, and other critical infrastructure industries. In the government, he has worked with the Defense Health Agency, Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Army, Defense Information Systems Agency, Department of State, and the Defense Intelligence Agency. He focuses on designing integrated solutions to protect against modern cyber threats.
He regularly advises clients on advanced cyberdefenses including Advanced Persistent Threat, nation-state adversaries, Identity and Access Management, and cloud solutions using SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS technologies. He has performed cybersecurity assessments using the NIST CSF, FISMA, FedRAMP, HIPAA, FFIEC, CSC20, and other frameworks. He has presented on these topics at RSA, MILCOM, HIMSS, (ISC)2, ISSA, the Smart Card Alliance, B-Sides and other forums. He is a former ranger-qualified paratrooper, and hold degrees in computer science engineering and information assurance from Princeton and George Washington Universities.
