Eric Gray is originally from Plainview, New York, and earned his BA from SUNY New Paltz. He came to San Francisco in 1974, where he began a 39-year career at the U.S. Department of Labor, administering job training and employment programs for disadvantaged youth, most of that time spent with the Job Corps program. He met his future wife, Lynn Rhodes, on his first day at the Department of Labor and never moved back to NY. Lynn and Eric have two adult children, Rachel in San Francisco and David in Washington, D.C. They are all baseball and music fans, along with David’s wife, Lisa, and their daughters Juliet and Vivian.
His hobbies include rock and roll, following politics, playing and watching baseball and basketball, hiking, and hanging out with friends and family. His newest books, Music We Heard Along the Way: A Collection of Stories of Music and Connection, Volumes 1 and 2, include stories that answered the question, "What music memories have left a lasting memory for you? A famous concert, a special song, or maybe meeting your favorite songwriter or musician?" Bases to Bleachers, Eric's first book, and the follow-up Backyards to Ballparks, are collections of amazing baseball stories from baseball's many fans from around the world. He is always soliciting more stories, so if these books bring your own great story to mind and you would like to contribute it for the next book, get in touch.
