Giuseppe Fanfoni born in Valmontone (Rome) in 1941.
The beginning of his uninterrupted artistic activity dates back to his youth, with the baptism of Christ, painted in the church of San Marco in Pontecorvo, in 1956. From 1959 he joined the activities of the sculptor Giuseppe Mazzullo taking care of the exhibitions of his works and adaptations in public and private environments.
From 1960 he took part, as a restorer and architect, in numerous archaeological missions in Italy, Afghanistan, Turkey, Sudan and Egypt.
From 1962 to 1970 he was appointed expert on restoration and archeology at the "La Sapienza" University of Rome. From 1970 to 1996 he was Professor of Design at the State Institute of Art in Rome.
From 1976 to 1983 he taught Methodologies and Restoration Techniques at the University of Cairo, Egypt. In Cairo, in 1983, he founded the Italo-Egyptian Center for Restoration and Archeology, whose of the specialization work-site school, which he directed, is still active in the Dervish Mevlevi Architectural Complex. For restoration work, in 1989 he received the Nomination for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and in 2007 he received the "Merit Award" from the Union of Arab Universities. In 2012 he received the "Rotondi Award - Salvatore of the Art, World Section"
He participated in the International Architecture Exhibition of the 1982 Venice Biennale. Furthermore, among his numerous personal and collective exhibitions, among the latest, we report the anthologies at the Italian Cultural Institute of Cairo (2010), at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina of Alessandria (2011) and the Academy of Egypt in Rome (2014), where works of painting, sculpture, object design, furniture, architecture, urban planning and restoration were exhibited. He participated in the "Milan Biennale Expo International Art Meeting" (2015) and continuously in the various exhibitions of the "Spoleto Arte" organization. His over 40 publications (volumes and articles) concerning history and visual arts, restoration and scientific research.
