E.D. Snow was born in 1949. She moved to Hawai'i in 1968 where the call of a sailor's life was the impetus for her to leave college in exchange for the life-changing adventures captured in this book relating her seven years of sailing and living in the South Pacific. Returning to the US in 1978, she spent the next 40 years transcribing court trials and raising a family. Eventually, she gathered up the journals she'd kept while sailing, and with the wisdom of hindsight, captured her adventures in Aweigh of Life. As the wanderlust is never far at bay, she still saunters out into the world on shorter forays, seeking the paths less traveled, and, as she did as a sailor, she keeps a journal in her heart and on paper for the unfolding sequel that each day brings.
