aka "Don Roberto"

I was born in California and began a musical career at a young age with a fascination for Jazz. Coming of age I also developed a passion for surfing, sailing, diving, travel, and adventure while I journeyed throughout Central America, South America, and extended voyaging to the South Pacific. In the 1970s during my travels, I became involved in sport fishing in Costa Rica. Then, for the next 24 years I pursued a career in fishing; first as a sport fishing guide and later as a commercial longliner.

Throughout my life, I have had the good fortune to meet a colorful cast of characters. Interacting with with these acquaintances and good friends I've had many unique adventures and experiences. My pen name, "Don Roberto" means "Mr Robert" in Spanish, the pronoun "Don" meaning "Mr". It was also the name of my commercial longline fishing vessel "Don Roberto", which I built and worked in Costa Rica in the 1990's.

I started writing with a desire to convey my many stories about fishing, but as I began I decided to revert back to my youth and tell the tale of where I came from, before my fishing career, so this became my first book, "Don Roberto Road Scholar." Life in the 1970s was random and that's how I lived, one day at a time, letting the events of today shape an unknown tomorrow; learning about life while on the road. I am fortunate to have survived to tell my many stories, and if I had it to do all over again.....I wouldn't change a thing!

I have now completed my second book, "Don Roberto The Fisherman" and it is also self published on Amazon. I am receiving 5 star praise from everyone for both books including a multitude of written reviews that are all very positive. I have started my third book in the "Don Roberto" series which focuses on big game fishing in St Thomas, Chile, Costa Rica, and the Galapagos. I hope to have it completed by late 2023. The truth is the books write themselves, as they are just the choreographed descriptions of my life and all that it has been. It's the editing that takes a long time as I am meticulous about the final presentations being clear, harmonious, fun, and easy to read. I truly enjoy putting my stories into written works for all to enjoy!
