Grant Beyleveld

Dr. Grant Beyleveld was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He moved to New York City in 2011 to pursue a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, graduating with Distinction in Research. During his doctoral studies, he discovered a passion for data science and machine learning. After completing his Ph.D. he began work at the machine learning company untapt, using artificial intelligence and natural language processing to solve problems in the hiring and recruiting space. He co-authored Deep Learning Illustrated with his mentor and colleague, Jon Krohn. In addition to his professional work and writing, he is a collaborator with researchers at Columbia University on a grant from the U.S. National Institutes of Health to automate medical image processing with deep learning.
