Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hitpass

Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hitpass is an Independent Researcher and expert in Business IT-Alignment, specializing in Business and Process Architecture, BPM, and the BPMN standard. With over 30 years of international experience spanning Europe and Latin America, he has established himself across Ibero-America as a recognized voice in BPM, EA, and the BPMN standard.

He served as the Executive Director of the BPM Center at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) in Chile, where he is now a Retired Professor. Dr. Hitpass holds a master’s degree in economics from the Johannes Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany) and a Doctorate from UNINI México.

His professional career includes high-level executive roles for German multinationals, such as CTO of Software AG and Board Director of MIS AG in Chile. During the 1990s in Germany, he was a pioneer in Strategic Systems Planning and Requirements Engineering, participating in significant IT development projects across German industry.

As a leading author in Business and Process Architecture, Dr. Hitpass specializes in modeling and management techniques, Business Intelligence, and Critical Mission Systems. His work remains a benchmark for Business IT-Alignment, bridging the gap between academic theory and corporate execution.
