Don Shaw

Don Shaw has a big family, and he loves to hear kids laughing. A couple of years ago he went to one of the Swiss ski resorts for Christmas vacation. His awesome sisters and their six kids also went there.

The youngest was a 4-year-old Alexa. She was a big fan of magic books and toy dinosaurs. The twins Micah and Daniel were five. They had big collection of toy cars and airplanes. They loved long car trips (which was unusual for their age) and wanted to visit all countries in the world (which was also quite uncommon for 5-year-olds). In general they were interested in transport and asked thousands of questions about the buses, submarines, and rockets. Amelia’s age was seven, and she could draw all day long. Unless a banana and flaxseed smoothie was waiting for her in the kitchen (it’s still her favorite meal). Terrence was eight years old, and he dreamt of having the biggest collection of jokes in the world. This little joker was making fun of everything he’d seen around him. Some of his jokes were very silly and corny, but they all laughed anyway because of his inimitable smiles! And, finally, Roman was ten. He loved to film everything with dad’s old pocket camera, and he dreamt of becoming a screenwriter for the greatest cartoon in history.

They had a wonderful time together. The evenings in the mountains always have a very special atmosphere of joy and peace. On the first evening, Terrence asked Don Shaw to read some funny book, which he had found in the house.

All six children surrounded him and enjoyed listening to the story. When Don turned the last page of the book, kids asked for more, and he started inventing his heroes and subject matters. His stories turned out to be even more hilarious than the book, and Don’s young nieces and nephews couldn’t get enough of it. The evening story-telling has become a great tradition for the whole family.

Consequently, Don realized that he could make much more kids happy! That’s how he’s got inspiration to become a children’s book author. Hopefully, your sons and daughters will have so much fun while reading his books!
