John E Budzinski

John E. Budzinski’s writing career began with a failed attempt to impress a college girlfriend’s father — a newspaper editor who clearly regarded him as a 25-watt bulb in a 100-watt world. John’s response was to write two op-ed pieces to show the father that even a dim bulb can shed some light. While not winning over the father, the op-eds ignited a passion in John for writing that never dimmed.

That spark led to guest columns, a five-year weekly column for a New Hampshire newspaper, and appearances in the Boston Globe, the Patriot Ledger, and papers across New England and beyond. He holds degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and has done graduate work at several universities, including Ph.D. work in political science at Temple.

John writes memoir, historical fiction, and social commentary in the same way he’d talk to you over coffee — honest, with a touch of cynicism and sarcasm, a little funny, and always looking for the moment a story reminds you of your own—Good Stories, are Good Stories. He has published three books.

He lives near Iowa City, Iowa, one of four dozen or so UNESCO Cities of Literature in the world, which he considers either destiny or a delightful coincidence.

John believes every person has a story worth telling, and he’s willing to sit down to listen, because sharing good stories has a way of reminding all of us, we’re never as alone as we sometimes think.
