Alice M. Batzel

ALICE M. BATZEL is an award-winning writer from the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast living in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. She is a published author, playwright, journalist, poet, and freelance writer. Alice has published with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., the JAHIMA of Chicago, Box Elder Magazine, Willow Park Press, OdieGroup Press, The Writers' Cache, and has been a guest writer with various newspapers. She studied at Utah State University, Northwest Florida State College, and the AHIMA of Chicago. Her western comedy/mystery stage script, WHO SHOT THE SHERIFF?, has been performed across the United States and Canada entertaining audiences, serving charity fundraising for pediatric trauma care, and providing financial support for high school drama programs and community theater organizations. Alice is currently writing magazine articles, poetry, novels, short stories, humor, and tv/stage scripts. When not engaged in her creative writing pursuits, Alice enjoys family history research. She is a retired RHIT credentialed Health Information Management Specialist with a 32-year career in the acute care hospital setting, also serving as a patient rights advocate regarding end-of-life decision making, quality of care, and medical ethics. Alice is married, the mother of two adult sons, and grandmother of five. She and her husband enjoy living in a peaceful rural community at the foot of a majestic mountain range in northern Utah.
