Sergey Pulinets

Sergey Pulinets graduated from the Physical Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University. He obtained his PhD and Habilitation at Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radiowave Propagation of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IZMIRAN) where he worked for 30 years, last year as a Deputy Director. He spent 6 years in Mexico providing research on earthquake preparation processes in Institute of Geophysics of UNAM. Since 2009 Dr Pulinets has been working at Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI) as a Principal Research Scientist. The scope of his scientific interests ranges from plasma physics, especially physics of the ionosphere up to atmospheric electricity, natural hazards, coupling processes in geospheres interaction. He is scientific leader of the group of scientists developing the physical model of the Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere Coupling (LAIC). As PI of different payloads at the Soviet and Russian satellites, he made essential contribution in the space instrumentation, especially topside sounding and RF radiospectroscopy of the ionosphere. As an invited professor or lecturer he conducted his research and lecture courses in Taiwan, Japan, Pakistan, Poland, and the USA. Dr Pulinets is an Individual member of the International Union of Radio Sciences (URSI), and a full member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
