Maureen Sweeney Ackerman

Maureen Sweeney Ackerman, a lifelong writer, reader, and runner, and recipient of multiple awards for excellence in teaching, has taught creative writing to high school students and facilitated poetry and memoir workshops for adults. “Poetry is my heartbeat,” she says. “It’s how I grieve, how I celebrate, how I see and hear and process the world.” Until 2017, she lived on Long Island, where running along the beach gave rise to many of her poems. She currently lives in Denver, Colorado.
