Hal Roberts

Hal is a retired school superintendent after serving for 38 years in Texas. He taught students in grades 4-12, and coached boys and girls in grades 7-12 in many sports. Thirty of those years were in leadership positions including athletic director, elementary principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. In addition, Hal was able to achieve his boyhood dream of playing in the N.F.L.

Hal is married to his wife Susan, also a retired educator who now serves as a consultant with AVID, a college readiness system, teaching teachers. They have two daughters, Colleen, married to Justin Carroll, and Emily, married to Jeff Siemens. They have four grandchildren - Tatum, Drew, Bryson, and Kyle.

Hal loves to play golf and cook with his wife. Both love to travel. They have been on nine cruises which is their favorite way to vacation. They are both active in their church, LakePointe, and are passionately involved in the Re|Engage ministry there.

Hal decided to write his book in his last year of serving as a superintendent. At that time he began to talk with the best and brightest educators across the nation, and he includes many of their thoughts and writings in his book. He discusses 15 attributes of a leader in his book "Make Waves -- Be a Radical, Relentless, and Ridiculous Leader of Significance." You will love reading his experiences and stories in both leadership and the N.F.L. He estimated this book was six years in the making.

Hal prays that his words can assist, inspire, and edify you as you "set sail" on your own journey in leadership. He reminds everyone that if you influence anyone, you are a leader. Hal's desire is that you dream His dreams, explore His will and discover His purpose for you. Allow His story to change your story! Make Waves!

Hal's favorite verse in the Bible is John 3:30 "He must become greater, I must become less."
