As the story goes on, the reader finds out that this girl has not only a heart for animals but also for plants and people. This story is an example for children to not give up on a project and to offer help where needed. Sometimes the outcome is different and even better than you thought. Children from 4- to 8-years-old will enjoy this book.

Kate Stempel knows firsthand the importance of caring for others, having volunteered with Citymeals on Wheels, delivering food to homebound elderly and actively volunteering at local animal shelters. Through those experiences, she learned that “nourishment” is not always about food, but also about companionship.




Kate has always loved to write and has written many short stories for herself and her

kids. She was inspired to write Sprinkles by witnessing many unlikely friendships between elderly and young children. A bond can be formed spanning generations, and shared joy can sometimes be a reason a person finds hope and purpose in everyday life.
