Barbara was born in Hannibal, Missouri, and raised on a farm near Barry, Illinois by her mother and step-father. She learned at an early age to work on the farm with her step-father with horses and horse-drawn equipment because he didn’t believe in modern equipment or conveniences. Shortly after that, her stepfather purchased his first tractor and she soon learned how to operate that equipment as well. During her school years, she was often taunted by her peers as that “poor little farm girl” because she dressed differently and wasn’t allowed to participate in many school activities. To add to her already low self-esteem, she suffered verbal, emotional, and physical abuse, feelings of rejection and abandonment, and turned all the anger inward.
She occasionally went to church with her grandmother and grandfather and received Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. After her first marriage failed and she lost custody of her two sons, she slipped into a phase of anger and rebellion toward God because she blamed Him for her own choices. She worked as a nurse for forty years and trained to become a medical laboratory technician after having a severe mental breakdown.
After twenty-eight years of running from God, another failed marriage, the miracle birth of her daughter, and several grandchildren, she found herself at the very bottom of a pit with no way out except up. On New Year’s Eve of 1997, she planned on ending her life, but God had other plans for her. As she totally surrendered her life to the Lord, He changed the worst night of her life into the best night of her life and turned her world upside down. She started unexpectedly writing poetry in 2000 and is now a licensed evangelist/prophetess, author of three books, and inspirational speaker. Her journey with the Lord throughout her whole life has been one exciting miracle after another, and she wishes to share hope and encouragement to a lost and dying world.
