Temple Kinyon

As a marketing writer at Schweitzer Engineering Labs, Inc., Temple Kinyon combines her creative word-crafting skills with the technical aspects of the power industry.

She and her dad, Joe Anderson, coauthored his memoir, JOE, TELL US A STORY. AN IDAHO FARMER TACKLES THE WORLD, released September 2026. It took many years to compile the family history and Joe's many adventures on the farm and in the world representing various areas of agriculture.

Prior to that, she coauthored UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT'S CRISIS HANDBOOK (Wiley, 2024) with University of Idaho President Scott Green, which showcases her talent to take a managerial book, write it with a balance of creative non-fiction, and produce a riveting story to appeal to a wide array of readers. She shared the writing responsibilities with Green but took the lead on the management of the project, including conducting all interviews, coordinating content, and serving as main point of contact for the publisher.

Temple received her BS in Communications/Advertising in 1993 from the University of Idaho, thus securing a lifelong loyalty to her alma mater. While at the U of I, she worked as Assistant Newsletter Editor at Facilities Management. After graduating, Temple worked in the real estate and hospitality industries, stretching her marketing and communications experience before returning to the U of I in 1997 to work at the Alumni Office as Off-Campus Events and Volunteer Manager (when she met her future coauthor and fellow UI Vandal, Scott Green). Her love for the institution and State of Idaho never wavered, even when she relocated to Las Vegas in 2003.

Temple worked at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in the President’s Office as the event manager. She jumped into a full-time freelance writing career in 2012 and became a contributing writer for BLVDS LV Magazine in 2014, where she also landed her first editorial assistant position. Her first book, THE BUTTON BOXES, released September 2019, is a middle-grade fiction perfect for readers of all ages.

Her fiction and non-fiction have appeared in HOME&HARVEST magazine (check out the OH, OTIS! SHENANIGANS series) and IDAHO GRAIN magazine. Temple also worked as a copywriter for Enclave & Key in Las Vegas, a mentor to young writers, and as a book editor, where she excels in developmental editing.
