Edward Jarvis

Edward Jarvis ThD PhD is the author of a growing number of acclaimed books exploring themes in religion, theology, history, and politics. They often focus on lesser-known and more controversial aspects of these subjects, analyzing the points where they intersect.

Though often catering to niche readerships, Jarvis' writings have been praised in a wide range of high-profile media. The Church Times has called his books "excellent" and "deeply thoughtful, historically informed, and very readable." CUP's Church History journal called his work "definitive." Jarvis is an elected Fellow of both the Royal Historical Society, London, and the Royal Asiatic Society.

Edward Jarvis was born in a rugged corner of England triangulated by the craggy North Sea coast, industrial docklands still scarred by wartime bombsites, and the dense wilderness that inspired Tolkien's Middle Earth. Jarvis's ancestors hailed from the Scottish borders, Donegal, Scandinavia, Italy, and France. He shares Huguenot ancestry with his first-cousin five-times-removed, the renowned author George Borrow.
