Jane Spavold Tims

Hi. I am a botanist, writer and artist, living in rural New Brunswick. I have a B.Sc. in Biology (Dalhousie U.), a B.A. in history (UNB), and an M.Sc. in Biology (Dalhousie U.). I worked with the New Brunswick Department of Environment for 37 years as environmental planner and plant ecologist. I have also taken writing courses in memoire, character, story-telling, marketing and editing.

I have two books of poetry, 'within easy reach' (2016) and 'in the shelter of the covered bridge' (2017), with Chapel Street Editions. I have independently published seven books in the Meniscus Science Fiction Series (CreateSpace, 2017 and 2018, and KDP, 2019) and the first in the Kaye Eliot Mystery series, 'How Her Garden Grew' (KDP, 2019). My websites feature my drawings, paintings and poetry.

In 2016 I won the Alfred G. Bailey Prize in the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick Writing Competition for my poetry manuscript about bird calls.

I illustrate all my books and create the front cover art. I am working to complete a manuscript of poetry on one-room school houses and the second of the Kaye Eliot Mysteries.
