Darin D. Schiffman

Hello. I’m a NY and NJ licensed doctoral level psychologist with over 20 years of experience. I work full-time at a psychiatric hospital, while maintaining a small part-time private practice. My clinical interests include stress management, loss and grief, emotional resiliency, family conflict resolution, psychological trauma, severe mental illness, anxiety, and mood disorders.

I'm passionate about the field of psychology. I enjoy writing about the human mind and its functions. Some of my work has been published on SelfHelpMagazine.Com and eHow. Until 2015, I was a regular contributor to the electronic bulletin of the National Association for the Dually-Diagnosed. I am active on social media with over 5,000 LinkedIn followers and regularly post blog-style articles on Facebook.

In July 2019, Routledge published my first book: “Coping with the Death of a Child: An Integrated Clinical Approach to Working with Bereaved Families.” I have nearly completed a companion workbook (for bereaved parents) to that publication. The working title is “Surviving the Death of a Child: A Family Focused-Guide to Providing Emotional Support.”

I recently self-published "Lockdown: A Psychologist's Thoughts and Reflections on the National Pandemic." My hope is that it will help readers to reflect on, emotionally process, and discuss their experience of COVID-19 with those closest to them.

Currently, I'm writing a comprehensive and interactive stress workbook. You will find it well-stocked with useful information. Topics range from learning to decrease self-defeating thoughts and disabling negative emotions to goal-setting, self-observation, and better time-management.
