Dale L. Tunnell Ph.D.

DR. DALE TUNNELL was born in Powell, Wyoming, in 1951. He is a decorated Vietnam veteran, married, and now living a retired lifestyle in Wright, Wyoming.

Trained in Layered Voice Analysis, Psycholinguistics, and Psychiatric Content Analysis and Diagnosis, Dale is a retired law enforcement officer with over forty years of service with federal, state, and local agencies. He earned a Master of Arts Degree in Management from Webster University and his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Psychology from Capella University.

Dale received Beginning, Advanced, and Stage II training in Scientific Content Analysis (SCAN) from Avinoam Sapir at the Laboratory for Scientific Interrogation (LSI) in Phoenix, Arizona. For a brief period, he was an instructor for LSI.

Louis Gottschalk, MD, Ph.D., of the University of California at Irvine, from whom he acquired his expertise in measuring psychological states through content analysis of verbal behavior, mentored Dale while he worked on his doctorate. Dale later co-authored a book about computerized content analysis with Dr. Gottschalk and Dr. Robert Bechtel.

Dale became a research associate at the University of Arizona, Center for Information, Technology, and Research (CITeR). Joining the Center’s collaborative research efforts with federal agencies and American academic institutions, he advanced Layered Voice Analysis studies and refined his practitioner skills.

After retiring from law enforcement, Halcyon Group International selected Dale as the Director of Forensic Intelligence and Research, a Department of Defense contractor.

He is the author of six books and an active member of the National Army Security Agency Association, the American Psychological Association, and the Linguistic Society of America.
