Jeffrey A. Pitts

Jeffrey A Pitts is the author of Hitwoman and other novels. Growing up on farms in Oregon and Washington, Jeff spent most of his time in whatever backcountry he could reach on horseback or afoot. Now, this dedicated storyteller’s characters walk in the same tracks. Seldom does he utilize a wilderness setting he hasn’t hiked, camped, fished, or hunted. Jeff loads, tests, and maintains important ballistic data of his own ammunition, because the harvest of wild game is more than a hobby. It’s a way of life.

After graduating from high school, Jeff worked as a carpenter, log home builder, logger, and heavy equipment operator. Fascinated by the roughest wilderness areas the US has to offer, he’s spent much of his life exploring the wildest country possible, sometimes living off the land as he traveled. From the Goat Rocks Wilderness of Washington state, the Bob Marshall of Montana, to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness of Idaho, he’s hiked thousands of miles on and off trails.

After the loss of a special German shorthair pointer, he filled the void with wirehair pointers and adds dogs into much of his writings.

An avid powerlifter, Jeff enjoys the big loads of squatting, benching, and deadlifting. He is married to Jodi, his childhood sweetheart, and they have two children, Tyrel and Terin, and three grandchildren, Noah, Hayden, and Kody.

A lifelong reader, he began writing stories when they could no longer be contained in his head and spilled over onto paper and computer screens.

Jeff derives pleasure from a slow rural life, enjoying friends and family, crafting his stories, growing a garden, and living off the grid in the Pacific Northwest with wife, two German wirehairs, and a flock of chickens.
