John Richardson is an Oscar-winning special effects supervisor who has been involved in over 100 movies, including nine James Bond adventures, all eight of the Harry Potter films, Aliens, Superman, A Bridge Too Far, Battle of Britain, Highlander II, Cliffhanger, Far and Away, Raise the Titanic ... and many, many others.
In creating the magic that inhabits and flows through these and other films, be it by means of creating huge explosions, beheading a man, re-creating gritty gun fights, producing futuristic gadgets, making a man fly or breathing life into creatures that both amaze and haunt us, John holds a unique place in cinema history.
The son of pioneering F/X technician Cliff Richardson, John learned his craft at the feet of a master of the craft and by building on that early work of his father and pushing boundaries further, innovating, taking a judged risk here and there whilst playing his hunches, John not only ensured the end result but also that none of his stars were ever injured.
With over five decades of credits and adventures under his belt, John now lifts the lid on his exciting and fascinating career of making movie magic.
