THE SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
Chittaranjan Naik has a deep and abiding interest in spirituality and philosophy. It began with a powerful spiritual experience he had while pursuing post-graduation in IIT. This led him to the study of both Indian and Western philosophies as also of the various religions of the world. He has engaged in philosophical discussions both with Western academicians and with Indian scholars. He is a spiritual sadhaka in the path of Advaita Vedanta and looks upon all the six darshanas as an integral part of the edifice of Sanathana Dharma. He left his job when he had over 6 years remaining for retirement in order to devote more time to his spiritual activities and primarily to work towards the revival of the Indian intellectual tradition.
He is the author of the article ‘The Sword of Kali’ and the article series ‘The Real and the Unreal’.
He is currently engaged in promoting a dialogue between the Indian philosophical tradition and contemporary philosophies and contemporary thought.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND CAREER
He has degrees in Aeronautical Engineering (B-Tech) and Industrial Engineering (M-Tech), both from IIT Madras.
He worked for 18 years at a large public sector organization, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd., the first 5 years in the Management Services department for the planning and execution of the world’s largest fertilizer project, and the next 13 years as the head of the IT department. He worked for 4 year as General Manager of Information Systems at the Indian Express (Bombay) group and was deeply involved in the company transformation exercise conducted across the country. He worked for the next 2 ½ years at Starcom Software, a startup IT company, and then for 5 years at 3i Infotech (erstwhile ICICI Infotech) as Business Head of Software for South-East Asia geography. For a few years thereafter he worked as a free-lance IT consultant. He has spearheaded the implementation of many pioneering business-enabling ideas and cutting edge technologies during his professional career.
