Doug McGill

Doug McGill is a meditation teacher and writer, and a former reporter for The New York Times based in New York City, and a bureau chief for Bloomberg News in Tokyo, London and Hong Kong. He learned insight meditation from Steve Armstrong and Kamala Masters; and self-enquiry from the non-dual teacher, Rupert Spira; his own teaching blends elements from both traditions. In addition to “Relax and Be Aware,” which he edited, he has written “Here: A Global Citizen’s Journey,” a collection of reportage on immigration in Minnesota (2007); and “Effigy Tumuli: The Reemergence of Ancient Moundbuilding,” with the artist, Michael Heizer (1990). He founded the Rochester Meditation Center in Rochester, MN in 2004. Since 2013 he has published a daily email practice message from Sayadaw U Tejaniya, “The Daily Tejaniya,” and taught a six-week "Introduction to Awareness Meditation" class several times a year.
