Nancy Koenig

Born on July 4, 1957, a firecracker so she was told, Nancy was raised by her hardworking mother to be responsible, respectful, and diligent. Her role in the family became one of caregiver when her brother, at the age of twenty, became paralyzed from a diving accident. His life altering event, changed the lives of the entire family, most notably Nancy's, who at age twelve, assumed adult responsibilities she would carry for the next thirty years. Her care giving extended to her mother when the ravages of Alzheimer's made independent living impossible, and to the hundreds of students in her classrooms throughout her nearly forty-year career as a teacher. Nancy shares the challenges and joys of being so integrally involved in the lives of others and emphasizes the importance of making time to care for oneself in the midst of it all.
