Daniel R. Mazza, P.E. was born and raised in Okeechobee, Florida, a small dairy and ranching community located in central/south Florida. His father was a first generation Italian-American and mother was a native Floridian born in Pahokee, Florida. Daniel attended the University of Florida, where he earned a Civil engineering degree, and met his future wife, Vickie Barr Mazza. His wife, is a native Floridian from North Miami, and her parents were both first generation Ashkenazi Jewish-Americans born in Worcester, Massachusetts. Daniel's book "Letters in a Trunk: A WWII Love Story" is about Vickie's parents and contains their transcribed love letters, which they wrote during WWII, between 1943 and 1946. Daniel enjoys non-fiction reading and watching documentaries, hence, his desire and joy in creating "Letters in a Trunk" to document and preserve these precious love letters for future generations to be able to relive a snapshot in history in unprecedented personal detail.
Daniel and Vickie have been married for over 35 years and have three adult sons and one daughter-in-law and reside in Boca Raton, Florida.
