C V Gauthier

C.V. (Cindy) Gauthier is a Canadian author who has always lived on the west coast of British Columbia. Before turning to fiction writing, her career was in secondary school education, working with students who found themselves in the margins, or who didn't fit the traditional model of education.

Drawing on Pacific coast history and her own lineage, the author's 19th century settings are both vibrant and challenging. Charlee LeBeau, the teen protagonist, is a strong, independent Métis girl who comes of age during the gold rush era of California and British Columbia. Charlee is surrounded by a diverse and inspirational cast of characters.

The Charlee LeBeau novels bring forth the untold stories of girls and women in history, through themes of hope and resilience. Charlee is a teen character in an historical setting, but her challenges are timeless. This YA fiction is for young and old alike.

Charlee LeBeau & The Gambler's Promise, the first book in the three-book YA historical adventure series, won the Whistler Independent Book Award (WIBA) for fiction in 2020.
